Starting Your Advisor Journey

Starting Your Advisor Journey: How to Become an Advisor

Starting Your Advisor Journey is part of the Advisor Academy and gives beginners a clearer path into adult phone and chat advisor work with practical expectations.

Starting can feel overwhelming. New advisors may wonder if they are qualified, what platforms look for, how to create a profile, what clients expect, how much they can earn, and how to handle their first conversations.

This category breaks the beginning process into practical steps so advisors can start with more confidence and fewer mistakes.

What This Category Covers

Inside this section, advisors can learn about whether this work is right for them, advisor skills, common beginner mistakes, what platforms look for, onboarding preparation, first 30-day expectations, transitioning from other platforms, and applying to Speak My Desires.

Why the First 30 Days Matter

The first month can shape how an advisor thinks about the work.

A new advisor who starts with no preparation may feel discouraged quickly.

A new advisor who understands expectations, boundaries, profile setup, communication basics, and platform rules has a much better foundation.

The goal is not to be perfect immediately.

The goal is to start professionally and improve with intention.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I need experience to become an advisor? A: Experience can help, but beginners can build skills over time. Communication, consistency, privacy awareness, boundaries, and a clear profile are often more important than trying to be perfect from the start.
Q: What should new advisors focus on first? A: New advisors should understand the platform, set realistic expectations, create a clear profile, learn basic communication skills, and review privacy and boundary guidelines before taking calls.
Q: Why are the first 30 days important? A: The first 30 days help advisors build habits, understand client expectations, test availability, improve their profile, and learn what they need to adjust before trying to grow more seriously.
